Acquire a historic building that creates space for telling the stories of the people, places and businesses of Appleton.
This historic building expands the archive space, AHS can continue preserving artifacts and sharing those artifacts through displays and exhibits. The new building will also have space to accommodate a reading library of Appleton authors and space for research.
The Appleton Historical Society started 14 years ago with a goal to create a museum accessible to all. In 2016 that goal was realized. The Society raised the necessary funds totaling $250,000 to open its first museum and pay off the mortgage. We have a track record of fiscal responsibility.
The Appleton Historical Society will continue to reach people with free monthly presentations, cemetery walks, curating the Vulcan Replica, and history fairs.
A new paid staff position will allow the Appleton Historical Society to expand our local history education programming and keep up the archival record keeping needs.
