Join Appleton Historical Society for an author visit. James Merton will discuss his book the Sixth Wisconsin and it's connections to Appleton. 

James Marten is professor of history emeritus at Marquette University, where he taught for thirty-six years. He is a former president of the Society of Civil War Historians and the author or editor of more than twenty books. In addition to his most recent book, The Sixth Wisconsin and the Long Civil War: The Biography of a Regiment, he has published Sing Not War: The Lives of Union and Confederate Veterans in Gilded Age America; America’s Corporal: James Tanner in War and Peace; and The Children’s Civil War.
