Super Bowl Champ Dr. George Koonce: Life After the Green Bay Packers & Appleton Memories brings 1997 Super Bowl champion and starting linebacker Dr. George Koonce, Jr. back to the Fox Cities to share powerful stories from his eight-year career with the Green Bay Packers and his inspiring journey beyond the gridiron.

Presented by the Appleton Historical Society, this special speaker series event reunites Dr. Koonce with former WBAY-TV sports anchor Mike Counter, who introduces his long-time friend 30 years after the duo co-hosted "The Koonce Encounter" radio show live from College Avenue in Appleton.

In this moving and candid talk, Dr. Koonce opens up about his humble beginnings in rural North Carolina, overcoming learning disabilities and personal hardship, and how faith, mentorship, and community shaped his path. He reflects on locker room memories with legends like Reggie White, his transition out of professional football, earning his Ph.D. at Marquette University, mentoring players like Chris Borland on concussions, and serving on the Green Bay Packers Board of Directors to help bring the NFL Draft to Wisconsin.
